What it looks like...

Armed:
While checking the <box> with an careful eye, you notice a small glowing rune hidden inside the box near the lock.
Set off!
Slowly, you push on the rune in an attempt to move it away from the lock, but your finger slips slightly causing you to rub it. It glows bright within the <box> and emits a sound like tormented souls being freed, then fades away suddenly.

Set off by someone else:
Successfully disarmed:
With sweat forming on your brow, you slowly move the rune away from the lock and push it deep inside the box.
Disarmed (safe):
You see a glowing rune pushed deep within the <box>. It seems far enough away from the lock to be harmless.
Notes:
This trap places a curse upon the box and all of its contents (coins excluded). This can lead to being unable to use your hands. Every item touched must be uncursed before it can be put down or away or sold, though they may be given or stolen. A Cleric's Uncurse spell will do the trick:
| <Person> casts Uncurse on you: |
<Person> gestures at you.
The curse on the <type> <box> breaks.
The curse on the <content item held> breaks. |
Glance:
Since it isn't lumpy, the glowing rune near the lock points you to the cursed trap as guarding this <box>.
