What it looks like...
Armed:
As you look closely, you notice a tiny hole right next to the lock which looks to be a trap of some kind.
Set off!
A stream of corrosive acid sprays out from the <box>, catching you in the <right hand> as you leap back in terror.
Set off by someone else:
<Person> leaps back away from the <box> as a spray of acid catches <him> in the <left hand>.
Successfully disarmed:
Grabbing up a pinch of dust from the ground, you carefully pack it into the small hole, stopping it up and disarming the trap.
Disarmed (safe):
You notice a tiny hole near the lock which has been stuffed with dirt rendering the trap harmless.
Notes:
If this trap is set off, acid can damage worn armor. Some people remove armor before disarming these to prevent damage. It's a question of which you would rather get fixed: armor or flesh. I've heard that splashing or pouring water on yourself reduces the effect, but have been unable to verify this. I've also heard that this is a myth...
