Cartoons

Cartoons are just so much fun, I never grew out of them. I still watch regularly.

Color me otaku!
Anime is the greatest thing in Japan! I'll watch just about anything. Just look at what I have listed here as proof. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a "Japanimation junkie" or "animeniac."

(Please note: some Anime is intended for mature audiences. Use these links with caution.)

Ranma 1/2 is one of my favorites. Another is Urusei Yatsura.
I've seen and read more Ranma 1/2 than anything else here. I strongly reccomend Jiji's "EZ Guide" to the series characters.

Urusei Yatsura was the first long-running series I saw, thanks to Mark. I have to see more of it.

Check out Teknoman sometime. My friends will be posting an Akira page soon.
I used to watch Teknoman each week, despite poor reception. It was a good show. Unfortunately, it got the axe. At least I saw all the episodes. It ended rather suddenly, as if the last episode was a season finale, and they never got around to the second season... Gotta love that theme music!

I've read all he comics that the movie's based on, and seen the movie. I've heard only stellar reviews of the movie, but frankly I liked the comics better.

Dragon Ball is funny. The sequel is Dragon Ball Z.
I saw nearly all the episodes of Dragon Ball. Unfortunately, it's been cancelled. The story tends to move slowly, but I find that this increases the suspense. They could have taken the story further, too. It didn't last as long as it should have.

Dragon Ball Z is a loose sequel to Dragon Ball. It takes place several years later, after the main characters grow up. It follows the same pattern as Dragon Ball, being slow to develop, but takes it to the extreme.

I love Samurai Pizza Cats because it makes me laugh. A friend got me hooked on Sailor Moon.
Samurai Pizza Cats is one of the funniest Japanese cartoons I've seen. The animation is simple and clean, the music is catchy, the characters are easy to like, and the plots are ridiculous. Perfect! Too bad the local station axed it. Waaah!

Sailor Moon has proven popular in much more than the target audience of young girls. Does it really matter who it's intended for? It's anime, and that's all that matters.

I know these two are comics, at least. I don't think they're cartoons as well, but, ehh, close enough.
Futaba-kun Change looks good. Another cool one is Pengo-N.
I have not yet seen Futaba-kun Change, but it looks interesting...

Pengo-N is cool so far. I haven't seen much yet, and I can't find any other web sites about it. It's still pretty new.

Disney has some good shows.

I like Gargoyles and Aladdin.
Gargoyles shows a fascinating blend of ancient creatures and modern life, and how they interact. It started out great, then seemed to turn into nothing more than a way to introduce a new character each episode (or change an old one). Marketing, anyone?

Aladdin has been one of my favorites for the past few years. It's a great source of fantastic ideas.

Gummi Bears was good while it was on the air. So was Winnie the Pooh.
Gummi Bears was a great show. It had action, adventure, and even traditional values that are so blatantly lacking from many modern shows.

Winnie the Pooh is a classic. What more need I say? He's also been popular on clothing and other merchandice lately, I've noticed.

It seems Winnie the Pooh has come back to network television, on Saturdays, but I'm not sure what time. I'll have to look for it.

Warner Brothers has much more than cartoons, but this page does not.

Animaniacs was a great show, very funny. The spinoff was Pinky and the Brain.
The thing I loved most about Animaniacs when I first saw it was all the wonderful allusions. They really made the show. WB should try to keep it up. Sadly, it became nothing more than a typical pain-fest. (sigh) Anvils aren't funny after the first 10,000 head-smashes.

Pinky and the Brain started out as my favorite Animaniacs, then they got their own show. I'd say that's a step towards world domination, wouldn't you? Same problem as Animaniacs, nothing left of the show but unfunny pain.
